MLA Microbiology Training

MLA MICROBIOLOGY TRAINING

This training is designed to address the shortage of experienced Medical Laboratory Assistants (MLA) within the Microbiology department nationwide. The course is specifically designed for those who wishes to pursue a career in microbiology laboratory as a Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA). You will be fully trained in our modern diagnostic-settings microbiology laboratory on the relevant skills that is required by most employers within the microbiology department.

Key training techniques covered in this training: 

​

1) Specimen reception Duties

2) Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)

3) Streaking Techniques

4) Making different agars and broths

5) Underestanding the selectivity nature of different agars and broths

6) Working with a diverse range of Microorganisms to underestand their properties and how they are processed in Research and Diagnostic Laboratories. 

7) Incubating a series of different microorganisms 

8) Analysing and Identifying unknown microorganisms 

9) API testing to identify specific unknown microorganisms

10) Using PCR test to detect and identify specific microorganisms

11) CV and Personal statement/ cover letter preparation

12) Mock Interview to prepare you for Research and Diagnostic Laboratories (NHS or Private industries.
